Clearwater Beach, Florida Wedding

Give us a cultural wedding topped off with beachfront portraits of a beautiful couple and we are head over heels. K and K Photography worked their magic while capturing the symbolism and rituals during the ceremony as well as the brides’ radiant smile. You can tell from the photos that Marian & Edward are two peas in a pod.

There is so much natural beauty and celebration at this Clearwater Beach wedding that we wish we were in attendance ourselves. Congratulations to the Marian & Edward!

Modernizing the Traditional

Even though we’ve seen our share of the contemporary gown designs (from the Fall 2012 Vera Wang Josephine to VW’s ruby red numbers) and absolutely adore the dramatic, we are excited to see the classic and aristocratic flair making its way into spring bridal trends (partly due to the Great Gatsby craze and Justin Timberlake’s suit and tie). Traditional, detail-oriented dresses and old school cool tuxes are on trend. Here are five of our favorite classic looks (all present on the #BBBSoiree runway).

The Ball Gown Silhouette

Trends in gowns seem to change ever so slightly year to year, so it’s no surprise to see the ball gown-inspired silhouette making an appearance in many couture lines this season.

0705

This specific dress is an Ines Di Santo, courtesy of Dimitra’s Bridal, and features the quintessential tulle ball gown with a strapless bodice. It’s really keeping in line with the more traditional trend popping up in many designer’s looks with a natural waistline and subtle, beaded sparkle. We’re certainly seeing less of the over the top, corseted, princess style dresses.

The Classic Tuxedo

Much like we’ve seen with the bride’s gowns, men’s wedding attire seems to be shifting toward the classic. This first look by Nicholas Joseph is a classic peak lapel tuxedo, a style we’ve seen in wedding albums for decades. Because of its timeless nature, we probably won’t see this look go out of style, so this particular tuxedo would be an all around great investment piece for any man’s wardrobe – you never know when your wife will be dragging you to a black tie affair, so at least this way you’ll be prepared!
0543
Some of the key details of this trend include a white tuxedo shirt with covered buttons, a black silk bow tie, and to top it all off, a white pocket square.

Classic Bride

This Ersa Atelier from Dimitra’s Bridal is one of the ten headlining gowns that was featured at the 4th Annual Bridal Soiree (#BBBSoiree) and really showcases the traditional, detail-oriented dresses that we’re seeing a lot of in bridal collections this season. Designers are especially loving the look of the high, lace neckline and long sleeves and are then opting for a subtle trumpet shape, adding silk tulle panels for a more romantic effect.

Old School Cool

The second groom’s look, also from Nicholas Joseph, is a slightly dressier alternative to the classic tuxedo and certainly a traditional gentleman’s look. The ivory dinner jacket complete with a shawl lapel worn by NJ  is the perfect look for weddings that fall within those warmer months.
0578
For this particular look, the white tuxedo shirt and white paisley pocket square add depth and texture to this color-blocked style. While the trends in groom’s attire have grown less drastic over the last few decades, it’s really become more about the details of the suit and fine-tuning those traditional pieces.

Romantic Details

The wedding gown style is also by Ines Di Santo (available at Dimitra’s Bridal) and really plays up the romantic aesthetic that’s currently popular in the bridal world. The hand-pleated, mermaid silhouette is just absolutely breathtaking in this silk organza fabric that contains just the slightest touch of color. Rather than over doing the look with extensive, ornate detail, we’re seeing subtle details like a lace applique at the bottom of a scalloped hem line, which you’ll notice on this gown.

Designer’s Challenge 5.1.13

Designer's Challenge2
Within the subtle details, couples are able to find individuality in the celebration of their nuptials, creating an extension of their own unique relationship. From tablescapes and lighting to custom place settings, each hand-selected element comes together to effectively translate an overall feeling. Sometimes a couple wants to fill a room with whimsy, others romance, but whatever the designer, it is the designer who pledges responsibility for bringing these feelings to life.

Transforming an interior into a special everlasting memory is what designers do, and weddings are among the most important of these creative missions.

Soirée Weddings & Events’ vignette was inspired by the glamour of our Ersa Atelier gown. Soft and fluffy peonies perfectly replicated the flowing layers of tulle from the dress. The feminine touches of blush, peach and rose gold combined with bold black and white patterned fabrics created a classic, yet elegant design.
